The Arfem Aluminium foundry is one of the core processes in our integrated production structure, with an annual capacity of 72,000 tonnes. Alongside standard alloys, billet can be produced to special alloy recipes for different technical requirements.
During production, the chemical composition of samples taken from the melting furnace is analysed with high-precision spectrometer systems. A twin-rotor gas degassing system is used to raise metal quality, and AirSlip casting technology enables billet production in different sizes up to 7,000 mm in length.
The homogenisation process is applied according to recipes set by billet diameter and alloy characteristics; after controlled cooling, products are made ready for dispatch. Our production infrastructure supports billet diameters of Ø127, Ø152, Ø178 and Ø203 mm, and special alloy production can also be carried out to customer and project requirements.
